Pompeo Mariani Foundation was created in March 1998.
The most important aim of this foundation is to enhance the work of the painter in Italy and in the world through cultural events and exhibitions, catalogues and other initiatives. The foundation owns a wide historical and documental archive of the artist’s life and works and of his contemporaries.
Pompeo Mariani Foundation owns as well a wide archive concerning the historical and artistic heritage of Bordighera (Imperia) starting from the second half of the 19th century.
  
 

Another aim of the foundation is to protect the image of the author and, as much as possible, to fight against the appearance of fakes on the market. For this reason the authentic works of the artist are being carefully archived.

In 2002 in Monza in the greenhouse of Villa Reale was organized an anthological exhibition concerning 104 works of the painter under the title:
“Pompeo Mariani 1857 – 1927. Poetry of nature, fascination of nature, fascination of worldliness” promoted by the City Council of Monza and by this Foundation, with relative catalogue by Marilisa Di Giovanni and Anna Ranzi and with the collaboration of Carlo Bagnasco, Cesare Colombo, Alberto Montrasio, edited by Silvana Editoriale (Arti Grafiche Amilacare Pizzi S.p.A). In 2003 at the State Archive of Florence was organized - from the 24th of May to the 24th of June - an exhibition under the title: “Cecconi, Mariani, Quadrone. Hunt and nature in Italian painting of the 19th century.”
On that occasion 29 paintings of the artist about hunt and nature were presented.

The Foundation has been for three years the official sponsor of the important Theatre Festival Borgio Verezzi on whose programmes have appeared some works of the artist.
